The programme started at 9.00 am on 14th may, 2014, and the venue was the very prestigious SMS Medical College’s Library Seminar Hall, which is famous for hosting various international seminars.

 

The workshop started with the auspicious lamp lighting ceremony. Honourable Health Minister of Rajasthan, Mr Rajendra Singh Rathore, Medical suprendendint & Principal, Dr. Nepalia, President of Jaipur Citizens Forum, Mr Rajiv Arora, Health secretary of Rajasthan, Mr Deepak Upreti, IAS were on Dias.

Mrs Lalitha Raghuram started with a very heart touching and emotional talk on concept of organ donation in which she shared her personal loss with audience.

With a very interesting talk by Dr Sunil Shroff, Managing Director of MOHAN Foundation,  on organ shortage and scenario in India, the momentum was set for a brain storming scientific feast.  The chief guest, Mr. Rajendra Singh Rathore, and Mr. Deepak Upreti, IAS, arrived between the talk and listened the lecture very patiently.

Mr. Rathore, Health Minister, during his speech, praised the work taken up by MFJCF and promised full support of government.  In fact, he stated that during his tenure of last few months this programme was the best.

The MOU between Mohan Foundation and Jaipur Citizens Forum was signed in front of the dignitaries and full house auditorium. Patients that are waiting for organs and few families who have donated their loved ones’ organs were invited to shared their experiences with participants.

After tea break, the topic of Transplantation of Human Organs Act was very well taken by Dr Ravi Mohanka.  Then, there were two films on Brain Death and its identification which were described beautifully by Mrs Pallavi Kumar.  She made a presentation on handling medico legal cases. Following this, Dr Shroff detailed about web registry and organ allocation.

 

Mrs. Lalitha Raghuram narrated some of the organ donor stories, which everyone appreciated. Following this, Ms. Pallavi made a presentation on how to run a successful organ donation program.

Finally, there was a panel discussion which was moderated by Dr Sunil Shroff himself and prominent doctors from Jaipur private hospitals such as Fortis, SMS, Mahatma Gandhi Hospital, Narayana Hrudayalaya, Santokba  Durlabhji Hospital were the panelist .

Overall, it was a great learning experience for everyone interested and involved in the work of organ donation.
