On 30 November 2024, under the Organ and Tissue Donation Project, a Get-Together for Rajasthan’s transplant coordinators was organized by the MOHAN Foundation Jaipur Citizen Forum (MFJCF) in collaboration with the State Organ and Tissue Transplant organization (SOTTO). The event took place at the premises of the Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti. The program aimed to address challenges and issues faced by transplant coordinators in Rajasthan, raise awareness about organ donation and transplantation, and inspire people to contribute to this cause. Around 85 participants including transplant coordinators across Rajasthan, along with health experts, officials, donor families, organ transplant recipients, and individuals actively promoting the cause of organ donation, attended the event.

The event’s distinguished guest,Padmabhushan Sh. D.R. Mehta, Patron and Founder of Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti, was welcomed and honored as an Advisor to MFJCF. During the program, he expressed,”I am pleased to be associated with an organization like MFJCF, which is continuously working to make organ donation a respected and common practice. Every individual’s contribution is significant in this mission, and together, we can make this campaign successful.

Dr. Rashmi Gupta, Director of Medical Education, emphasized the importance of organ donation, saying,”As a part of medical education, it is our duty to train the upcoming generation on this crucial subject and help them understand the significance of organ donation. Medical institutions and the state government are working together in this direction to save more lives and normalize this act of generosity in society.

During the event, Dr. Ramsevak, Nodal Officer- Transplant from Jhalawar Hospital, shared his experiences and the challenges faced in this field. He also discussed ongoing efforts to improve the organ donation and transplantation process.

Dr. Mrinal Joshi, Deputy Director of SOTTO, shed light on the importance of organ donation and transplantation and shared his insights on the future direction. This was followed by a poetic reflection presented by Dr. Dharmesh, IEC Consultant of SOTTO, which inspired all attendees.

Additionally, Bhupendra Meena, a donor family member, expressed the profound satisfaction of transforming others’ lives through organ donation. Organ transplant recipients Sh. Ramnaresh and Dholi Devi’s son shared their journeys, highlighting the challenges they faced and overcame.

The event concluded with an open session, where attendees discussed their experiences and the challenges encountered in this field.Mrs. Bhavna Jagwani,Convener,MFJCF and Mr. Ajay Gupta,Member,MFJCF thanked all transplant coordinators, SOTTO officials, and healthcare professionals for taking out time and making the event impactful.
