MFJCF was invited by the Rajasthan Hospital in Jaipur to deliver an awareness talk on organ donation and transplantation on 10th July 2021. A total of 20 people, including the Head Nursing In-charges of the ICU and HODs of non-medico departments from the hospital attended the talk. The key speaker for the talk was Dr. Sanjana Bhojwani.
She spoke about the following points:
- What is organ donation?
- Who can be a donor?
- Types of donors and organs/tissues that can be donated
- The status of organ donation in India
- Myths around organ donation
- Difference between circulatory death and brain death
- Age and organ donation
- Importance of donor card
- Real life stories of organ donors of Rajasthan
After her talk, Mr. Govind Gurbani told the participants about the option of adding an organ donor logo in driving license, a provision that is available only in Rajasthan at the moment. Mrs. Bhavana Jagwani gave vote of thanks to the participants and organisers, and also encouraged them to support the cause.
Participants were very motivated after the talk and asked many questions. At the end brochures and donor cards were distributed so that whoever wished to sign up as an organ donor could do so.
